Meet one or more of the high desert's artists at Artists’ Tea. Bring your own mug to the Cap Rock parking lot and enjoy a free cup of tea. This week's featured artist will be writer, poet and painter, Shauna Potocky, visiting from Yosemite National Park.
This week we will explore the meaning and value of Wilderness and the unique features of Joshua Tree National Park. Hands-on activities, along with selected readings, will guide participants through an exploration of Wilderness: what it is, what it means, and what its value is. All activities will feature an element of experimentation along with lots of play. Participants will mix their preferred elements to capture thoughts and discoveries through writing, drawing, painting, collage and other means. Each participant will receive a small journal to capture their Artists’ Tea experiences, with space to add in the rest of their Joshua Tree journey. Please bring any pens, markers, paints, etc that you may already have.
Artists' Tea is a great chance to get inspired and learn about the park through the perspective of an artist. We will also discuss ways the artist community can help protect and promote the beauty of Joshua Tree National Park through the arts.
This event is free of charge. Park entrance fees apply.
